CHILDREN OF BODOM Hire SINERGY Axeman For Upcoming Tour
August 16, 2003Finland's CHILDREN OF BODOM have recruited SINERGY/ex-STONE axeman Roope Latvala as the session guitarist for the remainder of their world tour in support of their latest CD, "Hate Crew Deathroll".
"When [former guitarist] Alexander ["Aku" Kuoppala] left the band we were left in a difficult situation: how to keep on going [without a second guitarist]," the group write on their web site. "We have so many shows already booked and fans waiting to see us in new places.
"Even though there are a lot of guitarists in this world, we have to make sure that the whole crew, touring party will get along with each other, otherwise touring will turn out to be really hard and uncomfortable. [Therefore] we felt really relieved when [CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho's SINERGY bandmate] Roope Latvala said: 'Yes, I could help you guys out in this...'
"After many problems, meetings and moments of frustration we now have a good friend and a skillful guitarist in this crew to make it 'til the end of this year and this tour.
"Roope's [live] debut will [with CHILDREN OF BODOM will] take place in Moscow on Saturday [August 16], and everything seems to be going very well, thanks to hard work from everyone of us, but especially to the effort that Roope has put in this!!!
"We are looking forward to get on the road with this new crew, see you in your town!!!"
As previously reported, CHILDREN OF BODOM's forthcoming "Best Of " album, titled "Bestbreeder (1997-2000)", will be released exclusively in Japan through Toy's Factory Records on September 3. As an added bonus, the album will include the group's cover of BILLY IDOL's "Rebel Yell", recorded during a recent session at keyboardist Janne Warman's Beyond Abilities studio. "Hate Crew Deathroll" will receive its long-overdue U.S. release on September 23 through Century Media Records. The group will team up with DIMMU BORGIR, NEVERMORE and HYPOCRISY for a North American tour in November.
